Conscience

The sculpture depicts the inner space of my human body, the seat of one’s deepest thoughts and emotions, conformity to what one considers to be correct or morally good. As an intensely private individual, my inner space/ conscience of mine is treated as sacred ground that is off-limits to other people and so it is an attempt to trace the body of self and split into two halves to convene within the limits.

One of several

The movement and coordination of the thoughts and the body are very interesting to be observed, it also inflicts several layers of the same in the conscience. Assigning a visual form was a task that I  borrowed easily from my experience.

Skin

This body is full of memory and thinking and this is confined to me, as a metaphor for thoughts as layers is skin. The idea of separating it revealing layers from the body arouse. The fragments show a few of the many more.

Construction

I feel my body is an assemblage of matters and thoughts, it is a  continuity of my past, present to the future, so I call it ‘timeless’. I  resemble this thought in the artwork ’construction’ aligning with building materials that man uses to construct his ‘nest’ called home.

Fly

I believe our human body is fluid as it moves with easy and smooth,  think of the way a modern dancer's body moves. It also shall be changeable like the fluidity of ideas, the idea inspired to work on a  sculptor which metaphor the idea and trying to occupy the corner.

Nest

My works explore the idea of the self both at the physical and metaphorical levels. While conceptualizing a way to express this preoccupation, it fascinated me that the body is not very different from a bird’s nest. A nest is a place where a living creature stays similarly the human body contains the soul that gives sentience to the body. When I observed the form of the nest more closely I found further parallels with the human since both the nest and the human being are built up in layers; layers that are sometimes perceptible to the eyes and at times not, since the nest/human begin to exist as an idea even before the idea takes a physical form. The free movement of the body is what embraces me being the participant in this dialogue between the dualities, even if it resembles the yoga postures for your perception it is merely the aesthetics I find in this dialogue of the body. This idea of physical absence/presence fascinates me and I translate this concept into my work using the notion of a trace. The trace is both a presence and an absence and  I bring this to my work by literally tracing the body impression on  Iron.
